Nice stone for my little gas oven April 18, 2010 Eric Gunn (RODEO, NM, US) I have little magic chef gas oven in my vintage aluminum trailer. Now I can make authentic pizza with great tasting crisp crust.I must admit my first attempt was a disaster. I used a wooden pizza peel with some flour on it and tried to slide in on the stone but it stuck and sauce and toppings dripped on the stone and left a black stain I'm not sure I can scrape off. However once I started using parchment paper it works perfectly. I made some naan indian bread the other day and it worked great for that as well. I love this stone..before my pizza was burnt on one side and raw on the other. My old gas stove wasn't heating evenly..but this stone is just what the doctor ordered.
Works well at a juicy price. March 14, 2010 Ua (San Francisco ca United States) I bought this stone mainly for making pizzas but it does well with bread too. I first bought some Mexican unglazed floor tiles from Home Depot for the pizza cooking. They all cracked in the first 3 uses. I cook my pizzas at 550 degrees and the pizza stone is able to stay in one piece! I have not used any of the more expensive stones and at this point have no reason to try. I am also thinking of buying one more of these stones for making two pizzas at a time.
so-so March 7, 2010 Joe This stone really hasn't made my pizzas better. It is quite porus and stains. You're better off with an old fashioned pizza tin.
Working great - priced well February 5, 2010 Cousteau (san diego, Ca United States) I got one of these for my son for Christmas (2009) - he immediately used it in a 600 oven to heat, then down to 450 to cook calzones and they turned out great - he was sold. They have used it many times for pizza and also Focaccia breads. The stone heats so much more evenly it is amazing the difference. I borrowed it to make pizza and was sold -- I am getting one for myself! I have seen little wire brushes sold to clean these 'stones' - but he just got a new, clean wire brush at the hardware store, it works fine. You want to keep the spills etc off the stone or it will smoke in the hot hot oven. When I used it, and left splatters of pizza ingredients on it, I cleaned it with 0000 steel wool, which also worked fine. I can't believe I have never tried one of these before! After reading other reviews, I'll say this stone was packaged quite well, so maybe they got the hint; there were no breaks on the stone I received and after using every few days for a month+ it appears quite sturdy.
Perfect pizza stone! May 4, 2009 B L Swan 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I am extremely happy with this product. I have been looking for a rectangular pizza stone for some time now because the house I recently bought has a very ancient (50+ years old) 21 inch wide stove and the 15" round stones didn't allow me to pull the rack out to properly cook the pizza.
I was a little put off by the review that said the corners were chipped. Mine are not perfect either, put that's just the nature of the beast. A very good purchase!
